12/15/14

Well, this week we had an experience um... different. For the first time, we finally got to give a big service project! And the ward came to help!!!!! It was all going wonderful! And then a problem happened and it was the scariest moment of probably all of my life. Lets just say, it wasn't good and I will tell you the details after the mission if you would like. Just know I'm safe and so is everyone else involved. Also, the next day, everyone acted like nothing happened, so, WELCOME TO MEXICO! ;) Just kidding. But it was exciting.

Today we had transfers. I had to leave my beloved Cuauhtemoc and now I am in Hidalgo (ward, not city). My new companion is Hermana Caamal. Shes super great and I'm excited to be with her. Also family, for Christmas, you can meet her and she speaks pretty good English! So that's a good thing! She might have to translate for me. ;) Haha. But I am excited for these changes. Its going to be good. Its a little hard because its only 10 days before Christmas and now I know no one, but its going to be great!!! If you still havent watched he is the gift, watch it! Ok?

Saturday we had a stake Christmas concert. Only 4 hermanas and 2 elders got to go. we were two of the lucky ones! It was so beautiful! They sang so well and we got to contact lots of people who aren't members. It was such a fun experience.

A brother showed me a video when I found I was getting changed. Its of a guy running on the treadmill and a girl passes by. He falls, but instead of lying there in a pile, he smoothly makes it look like he is doing push ups. Its like us, sometimes change is hard and we "fall" But keep your chin up and keep going. Life is always going to be changing. But trust in the Lord and all will be well!! :D

I cant think of much else, but I love you all and hope you have a wonderful week! LOVES!!!!!!!

12/8/14

If you haven't seen "He is the gift," WATCH IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is wonderful. This is the coolest thing ever. We have little cards to give to people and they help so much. There are so many people who are excited and want to learn more about Christ. Its also helped me to contact people easier, because every ones excited about Christmas and loves talking about it. But the real reason for CHRISTmas is the most important. Christ. Our savior. Not opnly his birth but all that he did and continues to do for us. I am so grateful for him and we should ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM. His love for YOU is beyond comprehension. Find him. Accept him. Turn to him. Remember him.

This week we had lots of cool experiences. Wed. we had 2 members with us, and we gave them each a card and asked if they would try to give it to someone. The first person we met was an athiest. He was not a happy person. ( I wouldn't be happy if I didn't know God exists and loves me too.) He didn't want to talk to us. so, they were a little sad. So, we tried again! the second was not a very happy person either. But we talked with him and shared what we believe. But then it turned into a lesson about the plan of salvation, which is ok. He also didn't really want to accept what we were talking about. So, we tried again!!! WOOO! We met this man. I think he might have been drunk, but he was really sad. He kept saying, "You}re wasting your time with me. Im worthless." We talked to him about Gods love and how he is a child of God. When we finally finished talking to him, he was happy and less in a panic. I know God loves him and everyone of his children. Including YOU. And he knows you personally.

Another story, we contacted another athiest. Well, he would fight against everything we would say and try to twist our words. I can honestly say I have never felt so confident in my life. I felt so much power flowing through my companion and I. Unfortunately my companion got a little frustrated and told him he was wasting his time so we were going to go. He said, "no, you are not wasting your time or mine. I'm learning. But if there was a God, why cant I see him and why don't you guys just show him to me." Well, I felt like a Book of Mormon moment and I just felt like he needed to be struck dumb, but I didn't because that's not nice. So, instead we testified of Gods love for him and how he needs to have faith. After we left, I told my companion I felt like striking him dumb, and she said she had felt the same. We missed our BooK of Mormon moment... Ha, but I think its for the better. One day he will know.

This Sunday, we went with one of our new investigators of Gold to the ward before ours because she works at the time ours is. (But shes working on changing that). Well, we have taught her twice. It was fast and testimony meeting and she had us write our names on a paper. So we did, then she got up and said she was going to bear her testimony. My companion and I looked at each other like "Oh dear, whats going to happen?!" Well, it was beautiful. She talked about how she is "Hungry for the gospel," how she knows her children will come with her and they will all be baptized. She talked about her 2 "angels" Hermana Prado and hermana EStengar "I don't know, its in English." It was precious and so special. Then we went to our ward! One of our very special investigator families finally came!!!!! It was a day where you just felt warm because these people were coming unto Christ and loving it.

That's what I will share for this week. It was a wonderful one! Speaking of one, I complete a year. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? Anyways, I love you all so very much!!!! Now go find Christ.

12/2/14

This week.....

I was feeling better! And then... FOOD POISIONING! I wont be eating KFC for a little while.... But after throwing up all over the patio of our investigators house, I felt a little better. The rest of the week my health was GREAT. No worries.

Wednesday, we (4 hermanas) got to teach in our weekly district/zone meeting. It was pretty cool I think. We talked about American football, so the elders were actually interested in what we had to say for once! We talked about how we need to work together like a football team. One of my favorite activities was when we had everyone tell their companion 5 things they thought their companion did well. It was really good because people are just hard on each other and sometimes you just need to hear you are doing SOMETHING well. My other favorite was at the end, we had everyone paint their "stripes" like we were going to the game and then we sang "Armies of Helaman." That was powerful!! Lots of the elders thanked us for our lesson and really liked it. We felt it went well.

today we got to go to the temple! All you who live near the temple and don't take advantage to go, REPENT. Ok? Its the best place to be. You get to help other people and feel the spirit super strong and its the house of God. So, not much is better than that. Its my invitation. Go.

This week we got to teach a less active who is almost never home. Shes super wonderful and things are a little complicated in her home. But we had a few lessons with her while shes not at work. They were super special. She shared her testimony about how the gospel saved her. How its what brought happiness back into her life. She testified of the book of mormon and I feel like she will be coming to church Sunday. I really hope so. We also taught her husband who is in the same situation. We thought he was a super serious person, but after talking to him, we learned differently. They are 2 wonderful people and hopefully we can help get them where they need to be!

Thats about all I can think about and my time is up. Hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving and a great week. For thanksgiving, we did nothing because that holiday doesn't exist here... But I did get to eat turkey yesterday! Haha Love you all!! Have a marvelous week!!!!

11/24/14

This week, we had 2 baptisms, 17 lessons with a member present, 20 less actives annnnnnnnnnd 12 with recent converts. Also, we contacted about 500 people in the street. It was AMAZING!!!

HA!!!!! Just kidding!!!! I had the Flu ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL week long and was trapped like a fly in a jar allllll week in our house. It was kinda awful. I got to take huge pills and cough medication and other pills and more pills! Woo! The only good part was I got to sleep. That was nice. My poor companion read ALMOST all of the Bible this week. Not that thats bad, she just about went crazy with not much to do....

On Thursday, I was taking my nice shower, and then I felt dizzy. So I thought, I better sit down! Well, Needless to say, I woke up on the floor staring at the sink. I thought, "is this what its like to be drunk? I will never know... But, it was super exciting. The best/worst part? My companion didn't hear a thing. She had no idea until I walked out and told her. Cool.

Yeah, nothing super exciting this week. But, Sunday, we still had investigators and less actives and recent converts at church! We were amazed and so blessed. Also, I was supposed to give a talk, but the bishop thought I wouldn't be coming to church, so I didn't give it! That was a blessing, because what I had written was awful and not a great talk.

So, other than just feeling dizzy constantly and still a little bit of a runny nose and cough, I am doing well. Thank you for the MANY MANY prayers. You are all the best!!!

I really cant think of much else to say. It was a very boring week. But! The Lord knows why this happened. It was tough not being able to get out there and visit my brothers, but it had a purpose I'm sure. Love you all and hope all is going well!!!

11/17/14

I'm sick.... Again....

Having the flu without your mommy is not fun at all. Did you know that? Also, having a super fever in the middle of the night and coughing until you have abs of steel. Also, its only been like 2 days. Stupid cold, I WANT MY MEXICAN PARADISE BACK!!!! Ok, now that I said that....

This week was a little tough. Monday night, we heard lots of gun shots, so, we were stuck in a members house all night. Tuesday, we were put in a trio, be cause one missionaries companions had to go to fix her visa. Wednesday we had to return her. Thursday, weekly planning, Friday, divisions, Saturday, stomach virus and flu. Sunday, super flu. WEEEEEE!!!!

I'm super excited to be an auntie again! Benjamin is ADORABLE. Only a few more months until I can hold him.

Sunday, we were waiting in sacrament meeting, doing the usual numbers scan, when in walked the son of one of our investigators! It was so exciting! Sadly, his mom and sister didn't come, but the mom said he is the one who always moves them, because if he wants to do something, they follow. So, hopefully next week, they will follow!!!

Friday I got to have divisions with my last companion. It was super fun, but weird because we were in a different area. All of our appointments fell through, except one, which personally, i would rather it had fell through. We taught this one man who has porn all of his walls, most uncomfortable thing of my life. And he also said he didn't want to listen any more and that he would never change his religion because he is afraid to. Cool.... So, we just kept trying and trying to find people. Its an area that is super hard, but the best part of the day? Reject after reject, we didn't get depressed, because we were dong our part. We were sad no one wanted to accept, but trying our hardest!! :D

That's about all I can think of, I think the fever is coming back... Joy. Talk to you next week! Loves!!!

11/10/14

Did you see that?!?!?!??!?

Sometimes the week goes by so fast I have no idea what to write. I think I just wrote..... But, anyways... Lets see what I can think of.

Um... OH!! Something super special! Our star investigator bore her testimony yesterday. HOLY COW. I think everyone cried. It was beautiful. She talked about how she KNOWS this is the true church and how grateful she is that she has been able to learn. She said she is so grateful for missionary work and how missinaries help people like her to know the truth. she talked about how she knows priesthood power is realy and how she knows God loves her and has a plan for her. I cant even tell you how special it was. AMAZING.

Last p-day after writing, we went to the center of tampico! Its basically a place to buy lots of things. It was pretty exciting. But, I, Hermana Stanger did NOT buy practically anything. Yes. It is true. Then we went to the lagoona de carpintero! The are crocodiles there!!!! :D That was super awesome!!! We had a really fun time.

The work is coming a long. We had 17 lessons with a member present! Thats the best of all my mission so far. Hopefully we can keep getting better! As President Monson said, now is the time for members and missionaries to come together! So, everyone, lets come together!! :D

I really cant think of anything else, sorry. It wasnt super exciting. Just teaching, contacting, teaching, eating, teaching, planning, you know, the missionary life.

Love you all!!! Keep your head up!

11/3/14

This week was really great. Started out the week by being told off, but you know what, I needed it. So, it really was great. I also learned a lot from the experience. I learned that the Atonement is there for more than we think. I learned about the love of Christ. He sees us as perfect, so why should we look for others (and our own) imperfections? Dont look for them. Look for the good in everyone. Because there is good in everyone. If you're having problems with your spouse, its probably because you are looking for their imperfections. Same with your children. Or co-workers. Lets just love everyone ok? Ok.

Now, lets talk about someone special. The family we found a very short while ago. Well, Thursday, we visited them. We had a wonder discussion, and then they invited us to dinner. And they were super happy! It was WONDERFUL! Then, Saturday, it was stake conference, so we invited them to go! They jumped up, took a "bath" in perfume changed clothes and away went went! They were so excited!! Well, we got to the conference, and it was the worst thing anyone could have had investigators in. They talked a lot about "numbers." Like, how many baptisms, and referrals, and it was a lot more like a stake training. It was awful, for the people we brought. They DIDNT go to church the next day. But Sunday, we had lunch with the bishop, and we were talking about what happened. He said, Lets go visit them tonight! So, in the night, we showed up. Well, she was in tears and her children weren't home. She was bawling and super depressed. So, we talked to her and tried to help calm her down. Then, the bishop gave her a super powerful blessing. Then she was a lot better. And to end, we sang abide with me tis eventide. When we were going to leave she kept saying, I don't understand, you always show up in the MOMENT I need you. It helped me to see how important time is and how important it is to listen to the spirit and follow right away.

I sadly am out of time. I dont know where the time went today... But, I hope you all have a wonderful week and look for the bright side to everything! If not, you will be choosing to be sad. So, make your choice! Love you all and wish the best! :D Hope next week to hear I have a second nephew in the world!! :D

10/27/14

This week was an adventure! It rains a lot here. I love it! The end.

Haha, this week we were walking in the street and BOOM! Giant African turtle!!!! Yeah, pretty cool. Never expected that. So, of course as missionaries we contacted the owner. And he told us about his turtle. The turtle at a certain time goes blind, weird right? Well, it was that time of night and this MASSIVE turtle stepped on my foot. Yep, it hurt. But nothing bad happened. Just hurt. But for once, our contact lives in our area!!! WOOO!!! Its exciting.

Also, God prepares not only the people but missionaries. I think I mentioned about the less active that signs. Well, THIS WEEK WE FOUND HIM!!!!!!! Yeah, obviously some signs are different, but I could at least sort of communicate with him! It was pretty exciting if I say so myself. Also, his mom isnt a member, but she accepted to listen to us (again, she was listening before I got here) It really was so cool. And I learned a little bit of Spanish sign! But its really amazing how God puts people in our paths so we can learn and grow. Sometimes there can be lots of challenges, but he will provide a way.

Also, we had a weird referral last week. A man came up to us in his cr and told us that we needed to go visit his ALMOST ex wife. We were a little nervous, but we went to visit her. (We had one of the most amazing members with us.) Well, we started talking to her, and she just began to tell us everything happening in her life. She was in DESPERATE need of someone to listen to her. We talked with her, listened shared personal stories, and gave her a book of Mormon. It was Amazing. The hermana gave the prayer and the inv. cried. she said, "I have no idea why my husband sent you, but thank you. I feel a lot better." The next day her neighbor said she was COMPLETELY different. Also, the hermana we took with us has a son about the same age, so she invited the son of the other hermana to go to the movies, and he went! It seriously was special, but the best part was the help of the member. She helped her more than we could as missionaries. Members really are so key in the work. I encourage everyone to go with the missionaries. You wont regret it. YOU CAN HAVE NEW FRIENDS; SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES; AND SO MUCH MORE!!!! Also, I just realized that i hit caps lock... haha, but its true!

Last night we got to listen to a 70. He talked about the atonement. He really helped me to think. It is so important to have a strong testimony of Christ and of his atonement. If you dont, work for it. I know I need to work harder. Its so important. If your testimony isnt where you want it, do something about it. :D

Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week. Sending my love and prayer to all! Also, íf you havent prayed vocally alone, try it!

Mexican Outfits

10/20/14

I have now eaten octopus. There are lots of things I thought I would NEVER eat in my life, but I have eaten. Yep, thanks to the mission I am a LOT less picky of an eater. You are all welcome. ;)

Anyways, So, remember the sweet girl who was supposed to be baptised? WELL, She was on vacation and there was a BATTLE here. The bishop, President, counselors, members, missionaries, everyone. But, President out rules everyone, and he stayed firm in his decision. So, we prayed, A LOT. She returned home Thursday. 2 Days before her "Baptism." WE went to go visit and to break the news. It could NOT have gone any better. She was, "Yeah, I can wait for my mom! It will be so cool when we are both waiting to enter the water and have the same goal and everything!" To say the least, it went well. I testify of pray and fasting, because without it, who knows what would have happened. Also, God has a plan for each one of us. Sometimes we don't understand it, but he knows! I learn that more and more each day. Also, when they came back from Guadalajara, she brought me a pair of hand blown glass earrings. They are dolphins for good luck! :D Awww.

Also, know whats fun? Going to the Er at 11:30 in the night time! Its exciting! But don't worry, it was my companion. She has lots of health problems too. More I think... Anyways, the whole day she was "dying" of pain. And finally in the night she was crying and so President came and got us and aways we went. The nurse was the daughter of one of our recent converts! (And a new investigator of ours!) I almost passed out when the took HER blood sample. Why???? I don't get it... Anyways, turns out it was just Colitis. So, we left the hospital and got home about 2 am. President asked, "so,what time are you getting up?" My comp" 6:20!" "NO! 8:30! and not before!" Woot! I was ok with that. The funny thing was, is the next day we had divisions, and we went to visit the RC and she was like, "OH NO! My daughter told me what happened! Where is your companion?!" :D

That's about all I can think of at the moment. But life is good. The church is true. And its getting cooler.

Loveyou all soooooooooo very much and hope that life is treating you well!!!! Read your scriptures!!

I won a car today!!! And a watch! I was the only one who threw a ball and it landed in the cup! :D WOOT

9/14/14

This week, we had a trial. Well, One of our golden investigators, did EVERYTHING for her baptism, that is supposed to be Saturday. She had her interview and everything. Sunday night, we got a call, she cant be baptized because she wont have a member living in her house and she isn't 15. (Her mom just has to get married for her to be baptized.) So, we get to tell her she needs to wait just a little bit longer. Its going to be exciting. Wish us luck! But its all part of Gods plan, so, we will see.

Continuing with the problem, I wont lie, I felt quite down. I didn't understand it. I got a little depressed and yes, thought about returning. I know, that's not good, but when you gotta tell someone they cant be baptized, it makes you sad. Anyways, last night we went to visit a less active couple. We started talking about eternal marriage, but it turned into them telling us how much the missionaries have changed their lives. They talked about how "They don't understand, but every time they feed us, they ALWAYS have food. Even when they have no money left, its there." They talked about how we have helped increase their testimonys so much and every time we leave they want to be better and read their scriptures and pray together. When I first got here, they thought about divorcing, now they want to get sealed. The best, was when the father cried because he could see how they are helping their child, and how when his child of 1 and a half folds his arms to pray and says amen, he knows its the right thing and its something special. It was amazing and helped remind us why we are here. It was so special.

The temple was AMAZING!!!!! Just what I was needing. You don't realize the blessing of having a temple so close, until you cant go. GO TO THE TEMPLE!!! There is no place like it. Feel the spirit. Receive answers. Feel peace. Do everything possible to be there. WORK FOR IT! Yep. That's my counsel for the day.

Life is an adventure and we got to hold on tight. Sometimes we don't understand everything, but the Lord does. He has a great plan and is always there for us. I testify he loves us, and he knows better. Don't give up the fight. It is CONSTANTLY going, but, we kn ow who's going to win. So pick which side you want to be on.

Love you ALL!!!!!!

10/6/14

This week was pretty good. New companion, new adventures. Its pretty exciting because I have a slight gringo accent and she has a slight Argentinan accent, so sometimes people are a little confused with BOTH of us! Not just me. Haha.

One of our adventures. One day, one of our visits cancelled and no one was home. So, we decided we were going to contact EVERY SINGLE PERSON WE SAW. Yeah, that was exciting. That's one of the blessings of being a missionary. Being able to talk to everyone. Why wasnt mom a missionary? Sorry, random thought. Anywho, we contacted 9 people in a row. Not 1 was in our area, but hey, maybe we planted seeds and hopefully the missionaries from there area will look for the referrals we sent. Yeah.

Conference was AMAZING! But, it went way to fast! I remember being a kid and the 8 hours were the longest thing ever. Now, they were the shortest. Its so amazing all the things we can learn. There were so many wonderful talks! Also, I was blessed to hear everyone but 2 in their native language AND understand!!! :D That was pretty cool. The people here were SO excited about the change. They loved it because "You could feel their emotions" and other such things. Also, I think my favorite talk was Elder Eyrings. Or Jorg Kilb?? I loved how BOLD he was.

I had other things to say, but everything left my brain. Hope life is good and you enjoyed conference!! I am going to the temple next Tuesday, so I will be writing then, not Monday.

LOVES!!!

9/29/14

First off, LUPITA WAS BAPTIZED!!!!! The Jehovas witness from my other area. Yeah, her. Well, I got a call friday night that she was getting baptized and wanted me to be there. So, we called president and he gave us permission to go! When she saw me, she said, "STANGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" And then gave me a huge hug and criend. Then she exclaimed to her son, "SHES THE ONE WHO GAVE ME THE BOOK!!!!" (reffering to the book of Mormon) Then she was baptized and we sang to her. Everyone cried. Then she bore her testimony. At first she just started quoting scriptures, but then she just let it loose. Her final words, crying like a baby were, " I WANT TO HAVE AN ETERNAL FAMILY!!!" It was beautiful.

Also, this week I got a letter, or should I say, a BUNCH of letters from my wonderful Young women! I loved each and everyone of the sweet little letters. My companion said the other day, "Letters are like patriarchal blessings, SUPER SPECIAL!" Yep, a letter is worth a lot. Thank you to my sweethearts who wrote me! Hope the rest of Girls camp was wonderful! I am sure it was. I will try to write back soon!!!

Today we had transfer. I am now with Hermana Prado. She is from Argentina. She has Argentinan spanish, so sometimes I get confused, but its going to be great!! I am so excited to get to work with her! I dont know lots about her yet... so. yeah.

Conference is in just a few short days!!!!! I am so excited! I encourage everyone to prepare for it. Think of any questions you have and pray about it and ask to recieve revelation. You will get it! If you prepare.

Also, sidenote, I am proud to say that I ate shrimp and fish and chile without gaging once. The blessings of the mission! :D

Thats about all I can think of this week, but life is good. I love the mission! The people are wonderful. Love you all and hope all is well! Off to piano lessons!!!

Want to know how to make a bunch of Mexicans angry at you? Dye your "beautiful blond hair" black. They don't like that because they love your hair. Opps. But hey, it grows back! ;)

This week I had divisions with our sister training leaders. My leader is my "Mom" or aka my trainer. It was really fun to be with her again. But it was also weird because we weren't in our area and I could actually speak Spanish. Haha. But its amazing how fast time flies. We were talking about how we were sure we were just companions and now we are both more than half way done. I cant even describe how fast time flies here. I have no idea how it is where you are, but I'm sure I left Utah yesterday!

Saturday was N. birthday. She turned 14! She is so excited for her baptism and doesn't want to wait any longer. For her birthday, one of the young men helped us make a slide show of her baby pictures and we put it to I am a child of God. We were soooo excited to show her! he doesn't have PowerPoint...... NOOO!!!!! But hopefully we can figure out a way to show her it.... Bj, any solutions?

Also, I found out that there is a less active who doesn't come to church because he is mute and deaf and no one knows sign language. Right now he is on vacations, but I really hope he comes back soon so I can TRY to communicate with him. We will see how close ASL is to MSL :D

The weather is still crazy. Yesterday, for some reason after church lots of the members were outside talking. us included. All of the sudden there was LIGHTNING and right at the same time THUNDER. It was like right in front of us. It reminded my of the Book of Mormon when Christ comes to the Americas. It was pretty awesome.

The Lord really is preparing people to be taught. He knows everyone personally and he knows what everyone needs. He knows YOU! He loves you. He needs YOUR help. Sometimes we just want to sit back and relax, but the war is on. Satan is trying harder and harder to bring Gods children down, but we cant let him! Help your brothers and sisters! Share your testimony! Give out a Book of Mormon! Invite friends to watch General Conference! (Its only 12 days away!!) :D Sing hymns! Study Preach my Gospel! Go teach with the missionaries! SMILE! LOVE!!!!! We need to love others, and we need to love them BETTER! GO, FIGHT, WIN!!!!!!!!!

Love you ALL!!!! Hope life is treating you well! And if it isn't, change it. :D Our heavenly Father wants us to be happy. So, be happy! LOVES!

Well, it has continued to rain. Almost everyday. And sometimes its like the sky is falling because there is so much water. The roads become rivers and peoples...um... i don't remember what is called in English.... Become waterfalls, and its just a bunch of fun!! I kinda really like it. I will try to put a picture on here. Funny story, the other day we were walking to one of our appointments and we looked down the road at where we normally walk and it was FLOODED. My companion said, "wow! Good thing we went thing way!" *Splash! In front of us was a ton of water too!

Another thing, us silly American celebrate 5 de Mayo, yeah, thats not a thing here. BUT September, THIS IS THE PARTY MONTH! Its pretty exciting. Friday we had a stake party, and our mission president let us go, and we got to stay out until 9! Woot! All the wards did a cultural dance from different parts of Mexico. It was fantastic!!! (But oh so hard to not dance.) Lots of people went to the activity and I even got to see some of the wonderful people from my first ward! Parties in Mexico are pretty fun I have to say.

Our star investigators are progressing very well. October 11th is going to be a great day! The daughters birthday is this Saturday and we are "first on her list." Its so amazing to see their progress. The other day, the mom was talking about how at breakfast, the daughter was bearing her testimony to her dad and brother that she KNOWS this is the way and that its true. She also shares with all her friends. We still got to get her mom married, but other than that they are PERFECT.

Last Monday night, we had planned to have FHE with a sister and a couple in our ward. When we got to the couples house, they weren't home. The sister was sad because she lives with her nonmember daughter and her daughter goes to school at night so she felt lonely. So, we decide to go to her house and have it with just us 3. When we got to her house, her daughter was home! Her zipper had broken at school. She really likes to sing, so we sang some hymns and then had a short lesson. She said the last prayer, and I just had an overwhelming feeling to ask her to be baptized. (*Side note, the first time we met her she didn't want ANYTHING to do with us and made it clear.) So, We asked, and she said YES! :D So, we will see where this goes!

Thats about all I can think of. Love you all and I witness that this is the true church! What are you doing to prepare to listen to the prophet? :D

Love,

9/8/14

Hello!

This week was an adventure. It rained. A LOT. Like, they closed school and didnt leave their houses. Only crazy people. And those crazy missionaries! It was really fun though. The first day was tuesday. We felt really blessed because everytime it would start to rain, we would be teaching a lesson (or in zone confernece in the morning). so we didnt really get wet alllllllll day. Except 15 minutes before we were supposed o be home. and we were infront of our house contacting our neighbors. It DOWNPOURED. Like, someone took a firehose and stuck it over your head and turned it on full blast. That continued for about the rest of the week. My poor companion got pretty sick and couldnt really talk, so I have preety much been teaching all of the lessons alone. Which has been a small blessing in disguise, because it has helped my spanish and teaching skills and such. Shes almost better now, so thats good.

Our golden investigators had to change their baptismal date again because in my mission, they have to go 5 weeks to church without missing, and she got sick and was in the hospital and couldnt go, so, were hoping for oct 11. The mom said she has caught her "husband" reading the Book of Mormon in seceret about 5 times now. And he has not drunk his weekend alcohol for about 4 weeks now. How cooll is that?! They are the best. The daughter just wants to get baptized already. She reads everyday, loves mutual, shares everything she learns with her friends, if she catches her parents doing something they shouldnt, she helps correct them. Shes is just amazing. I think sometimes we take the youth for granted. Something I have seen many times is when the youth are being taught and they are changing, the parents see the change and want to change too.Her mom said, " I always thought I would be the teacher, but I learn so much more from my children than I teach them." I dont have children, but I think maybe shes right from what I have seen.

On sunday we had a FHE as a ward. It wasnt planned at all until that morning. Luckily we were able to pull something together. The people here struggle a lot with keeping the Sabbath day holy, especially the part about not buying things sunday. So, the subjecty was, Keeping the sabbath day holy. We then did a small relay race where the first part they had a rubberband with shoelaces and you have to make a tower of cups using the rubberband7shoelace thing. Then the classic 3 legged race, and then eat a piece of bread as fast as possible and blow a bubble with gum after! It was so fun to watch. :D And, the daughter of one of the members came. The first time we met her, she was really rude to her mom and didnt want ANYTHING to do with us. But her mom has just reactivated and so, she is starting to change too. Maybe we will be having another baptism soon.

Its amazing to see people change. The gospel really does help people to change and to be more christlike. It is amazing to see. If you havent had this change, CHANGE! He will help you. Love you all and hope all is wonderful. Loves!

This week was pretty good. Saturday We got to give service! In this ward, its ridiculously hard to give service because the bishop told everyone that we aren't here to serve, so, when we can, its a miracle. Anywho, We got to help a member who's is in his 80s and in a wheelchair. His house is a wreck and his family has pretty much forgotten him, even though they live next door. He is diabetic and hardly eats and he drinks the bad water from the tap. So, we went and cleaned his house and helped him to have good water and such. The worst was his stove. It was so caked in layers and layers of grease. It was disgusting!!! We couldn't even get it all off. Hopefully this week we can get it off.

Miracle of the week. The brother who never wants to listen to us, but normally "hides" listened!!! How? We gave service. He was mixing cement and then putting it in the wheelbarrow. I am now professional ;) We helped him and then he asked why there were so many different religions. So, we told him and taught the whole first lesson. The we got to teach the plan of salvation. He loves it, because he has lost a lot of loved ones. he wanted to cry a lot of times, but hes a tough guy and wouldn't cry in front of us. He has agreed to a baptismal date! Now we just got to get him and his wife married!

Sorry its short today, but the computer crashed and I lost everything I had written and all the photos I posted. Sorry. Hopefully next week. Love you all and hope all is well!!!!

8/25/14

Well, this week was pretty good. Let me start off with a funny story.

Once upon a time, my companion and I returned to our house and we were STARVING. And, we had pretty much nothing in our house, so, we decided to ask the lady we live with to order a pizza and we{d pay for it. so, she says sure and asks what we want and we tell her. About a half hour passes, and then we here her daughter. "MOM! There tiny! They cant eat all of this!" (the sister was tying her shoes and hadn't looked up) "they said they wanted a grand." "BUT MOM!!!" She looks up and its a HUGE pizza. So, they come laughing, and the box she is holding looks like it could have a small un-assembled cabinet in it. It was the pizza! It was huge, so, we just cut it in half and shred it with them. It was hilarious.

This Saturday we had a ward FHE. We watched "Together Forever." Its from who knows what year and is kinda cheesy, but it was really good. Then our Mission leader taught everyone how FHE should be done and how to use the manual. Then we played a GIANT game off memory. It was pretty fantastic, and everyone participated. The best was when towards the end, everyone started counting down which added to the excitement. Also, we had a random investigator from another ward there. She had just had her first lesson with the Elders and asked to stay. She loved the video, especially since she lost her mom. She wants to be able to have her again and the video really helped her to have hope. And then of course we ate food because that's what you do here. Eat, and eat and eat.

Yesterday we got a new mission leader. He JUST returned from his mission from California. He told me my Spanish is really good. That was nice. And he guessed exactly how many months I have been out. That was impressive... Or he knows... Who knows. Anyways, I think he is really going to help whip this ward into shape. Because he is ready to work, which shows what ind of missionary he was. Its great. Our old mission leader is going to give us piano lessons today! Im pretty excited for that.

Thats about all I can think of today...

Anywho, life is good and I am so grateful to be in the Lords Army. Also, if you haven{t gone to the temple lately, I would advise you to do so, or to prepare to do so. Hope you are all studying Preach My Gospel! Conference is only like 5 weeks away!!! :D Its going to be great like always I am sure. Im not too excited, I{ve only made a count down calendar... Haha. But really. Im exctied to be able to listen to the Prophet and his Apostles. Love you all and Hope you have an EXCELLENT week!

Baptism!

This week, as the title suggests, we had a baptism. It went pretty well. Our song as a missionary choir wasn't perfect, but people cried, so that's good right? Haha (or it was that bad.) Her baptism was great even though she was terrified of the water and she was practically shoved under. In her testimony after, she told everyone there was a party in heaven and she was really happy. It was pretty sweet. Its amazing to see lives change and the happiness the gospel brings.

This week we had Super divisions, where everyone in our zone trades companions for the day. It was pretty exciting, not going to lie. I got put with a greenie. But, she is really great and doesn't seem like she is new. It made me have less fear if in the future I get the opportunity to train. It was actually kind of fun. And I learned a lot from her. The next day when we traded back, we had a little "What did you learn and how did inviting people to baptism in the first contact go." She told everybody something I said after she had cut me off to invite someone, "Why wait, its there salvation." It wasn't MY words. But I think it helped a lot of other people too.

One of our investigators, who is 13, we had to change her baptismal date last night. When we gave her the new date, her mother said she will be baptized the same day. Which means, WERE GOING TO HAVE A WEDDING!!! :D YAY!!! (Also, random side note, she gave me my first wedding present. Im not even engaged... haha) But, her husband agreed to finally get married to her. And he "secretly" listens in to all of the lessons, so, maybe he will be baptized too. Its a land of miracles!

Also, I am staying with my companion for another transfer! Yay! We get to keep working together in this area. Its really exciting.

Sadly, I used a lot of my time to respond to other wonderful emails, but that's the stuff most exciting and important from this week. I love you all and testify that this is Christ church. He lives. His Atonement was perfect and we need to ALWAYS remember him! The Book of Mormon is true!! Loves!

8/11/14

This week was wonderful. Let me tell you a funny story first.

Once upon a time, my companion and I were walking down the street. We saw one of our less actives and an investigator of the other missionaries in our ward. So, of course we went to say hello. When we got there, they were talking to this old man. Somewhere around his 80s. He proposed to me. I told him I couldn't because I was a missionary. He told my I could just put apart a little time. Then he sang to us. We invited him to baptism and he accepted. But, Not sure if its with "real intention." Why do people keep proposing to me?!? I think its funny though.... But, the part that's special about this story is when he asked what church we were from and after we told him, he asked questions. We didn't answer them, the investigator and the less active did! It was special!

Also, this Saturday, we had a ward activity in the "undesirable" area. The area where nobody wants to go because they are poor and there is lots of drugs and danger. But, we had an activity there anyways to show them we care. We had 6 investigators, i don't know how many less actives, and a bunch of members. In total about 40. We played a bunch of games and then watched "the touch of the Masters hand" and then we ate food. It was so fun. Some of the activities were; the Oreo game, (where you have to move the Oreo down your face without touching it), a game with ties ( there are 2 ties. 1 you tie in 1 knot and untie it then pass it on and the other you tie 2 knots and pass it on. the person that gets stuck with both loses.) and other such games. The activity was a success! The next day at church, EVERYONE that went to the activity went to church. All of them!!! :D It was awesome!!

Saturday, were having a baptism!!!! :D I am so excited. It took a lot for *Maggie to prepare. (*change of name for security ;)) She used to be attending the Jehovah's witnesses and would compare everything to them. Now, she loves going to church, the scriptures, praying, everything! She is so excited. In the beginning it was really hard to teach her because shes a little bit slower. Shes kinda like teaching a small child. Some days it was really frustrating, but she has worked so hard and the Lord has definitely blessed her a lot. Its a lot easier for her to understand things now. Saturday is her baptism and its combined with the elders of anther ward. So, were going to do a musical number with all the 4 elders in that ward and the 4 hermanas in my ward! Hopefully it goes well.

Yesterday, we went looking for one referral. When we got to his house, we asked if *Bill lived there. He said yeah, that's me. We introduced our selves and he let us in. It took him sometime to figure out how we got his direction. Then he remembered two young men with ties. We gave him a book of Mormon and he was so excited to read it. He especially liked that we had the answers to a lot of his questions he has never found the answer too. He accepted a baptismal date. I think he could do well as a young men's president... Haha. But really, it feels like he has been prepared.

The other day we went to visit some of the recent converts, and we were going to teach baptism and confirmation to them. Then my companion tells them that they are going to teach us today. We gave them our scriptures and 5 minutes to prepare. It went so great!!! They loved it and want to do it again. My favorite was when we asked, "but is it ok if i am only baptized and not confirmed?" The young man said, "no, its like putting on your shirt but not your pants. You need both!" What a great example and super simple!

Other funny story time! The other day were went to teach this couple. The man is 85 the woman is 80. We invited them to be baptised and the woman said, "if my feet are still above the ground." Maybe that's not funny, but if you knew her, it is.

Anyways, love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!! Remember God loves you! Remember who's going to win the final battle and which side you want to be on! Loves!!

8/4/14

Well, it feels like we are constantly running. There is NOT enough time in the day to do all we need to. There are too many people who need to hear the gospel, and not enough time. Its so hard.We pretty much run from one appointment to the other. Its exciting. Talking about exciting and running, yesterday, we were walking up "the hill." Its a lot like Bonneville, the steep street by my house. Anyways, we were walking up it, and this scary drunk man asked us something, we felt we needed to walk away really fast, so, we went as fast as possible. We got to the top and stopped for a second to breath. We looked back and HE WAS FOLLOWING US!!! So, we practically ran down the street. We got to a catholic church and there was a wedding, so we "got lost in the crowd" and then escaped further. Then we crossed the busy street, and he was STILL following us!!! So, we walked really fast around the corner and BOOKED IT! I don't know if I have ran so fast in my life. Not to mention (me being the klutz i am) Tripped and scrapped my knee a few days before. But it didn't hurt while i was running. It was exciting. I'm grateful we listened to the promptings we had because who knows what would have happened. Its always an adventure here! :)

We had 3 investigators in church yesterday! And they all loved it. ! of them has her baptismal interview this week, so, hopefully next week we will be having a baptism! Shes super excited too. Hopefully we can get everything taught before hand. She is really great. Although, shes is positive the interview is a test and she is terrified. We have even asked her the questions and everything, but shes still nervous. Poor girl. The other 2 were a mother and daughter. They are wonderful, the daughter hopefully will be baptized at the end of this month and the mother, hopefully her husband will marry her so she can be baptized, because she knows it is true and its what she wants.

About 2 weeks ago or so we had a woman show up to church and no one knew who she was. She said she had been going to a different ward. Well, we got asked to go visit her. Turns out shes been a member since her childhood, but got married and fell away. She just started coming back to church and shes pretty much like a fresh investigator. I love her so much. Apparently, all the missionaries that have tried to visit before, she never opened her door. God is a god of miracles my friends. He can change people. Have the faith that he can help change you. I have found out one of many of the reasons missionaries don't want to go home. Because they change, and they don't want to go back to what they were before. Its a scary thought.

Hope you all have a fantabulous week and that all is well.God loves you and so do I! What more could you want? ;)

Love, Hermana Stanger

7/28/14

I seriously can think of anything specific from this week. It went by so fast. Think think think......

Hm... Oh! I will tell you about one of our investigators. She is great. She was taking classes from the Jehovah's witnesses when she was found. She didn't understand pretty much anything. But, she kept going. She keeps trying. At first, she couldn't remember anything. Now, she remembers almost every single thing we have taught her. She loves the church. She goes to all the activities and goes every Sunday to church. She prayed to see if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and if the church is true. She had an overwhelming feeling of peace and happiness and she knows its true. Her baptism is the last Saturday of this transfer. Oh, and she stopped drinking coffee. Shes so prepared and wonderful.

Lets see, we had interviews with President Jordan! Most people don't like interviews with the president, its my favorite. I love it. While we were waiting for our interviews, hermanan J. was chewing out all the Latins for not practicing their English everyday. My poor companion was so stressed out. But hey, its part of their mission. Its almost a commandment ;) Haha. But the interview went well. I love talking to the President. He always has such great guidance and help. He always knows what to say.

My companion had the flu Saturday, that was exciting. We were stuck in the house again. But, we went to the doctor and he gave her drugs and shes better. Random fact, here in Mexico if you're sick with pretty much anything, they give you shot. FOR EVERYTHING. you have a cold? SHOT! If you have diarrhea? SHOT! If you have a broken nail? They probably would give you a shot. Haha Luckily I have always been able to escape them, except you know when I had the blood test and passed out.. But other than that, no needles for me!

Anyways, the mission is great. God loves all of you. I wish I could express just how much, but it isn't possible. I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve my fellow men and to help them come unto Christ. Its such a blessing. This is the true church. The Book of Mormon can change lives, and it does everyday. Something I would change if I could? Help the members understand that they are a lot bigger part in the missionary work than they think. I really really just want to shake people and say, "DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE NEED FRIENDS THAT LIVE HERE? PEOPLE! THEY NEED TO BE LOVED. THEY NEED YOUR TESTIMONY! THIS IS THE LORDS WORK AND YOU WERE BAPTIZED AND AGREED TO TAKE HIS NAME UPON YOU. HELP THE MISSIONARIES!!! YOU HAVE TIME TO SIT AND WATCH THE TV OR WHATEVER, YOU HAVE TIME TO GO WITH THEM TO 1 LESSON. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT TO SAY? STUDY PREACH MY GOSPEL LIKE AN APOSTLE OF GOD TOLD YOU TOO! " Ok, I will end my rant there for now.... Its just frustrating... But, life is great and the work is moving along.

7/21/14

This week I learned a great lesson. First I will tell you the lesson, and then what happened.

I learned by very small and simple things, big things can happen. And sometimes, they aren't good. We really have to think about our choices before we make them. Think about the big picture and what could happen. I learned that Sometimes things can look harmless, but in fact be bad for you.

Now for what happened.

One day, it was ridiculously hot here. My companion and I were drenched in sweat. I saw a tree with giant beautiful leaves, so, I picked one to fan myself. I thought I was brilliant. Well, the next morning, I woke up in hives. Yes my lovely friends and family, it was a leaf from an Almond tree, you know, one of the things I am allergic to. So, off to the hospital (a few times). The doctors ordered for me to stay inside because the sun would make it 10x as worse. So, My poor companion and I had to stay home a lot of the week. It making working really hard because we couldn't really go out of our house until the sun was almost down, and we have to be home by 8:30. So, we would have about an hour to work some days... and most of our work is about a half hours walk away... So, it was really tough. But, I am getting better and all is well. So don't worry too much. And now i know what an almond tree looks like so I wont touch it again.

Lets see, what else happened this week. Oh! One of our amazing couples was progressing really great. And then, turns out they aren't married... So, looks like their baptism wont be for a little while longer. But they are wonderful and love listening and learning. And they are changing. Its amazing. They were going to come to church this Sunday, and then someone in their family had a big accident and they had to help them. Its so sad how Satan works to get people to not do the right. They were so excited and really wanted to go.

One of our other investigators is about 23 and is studying to be a doctor. At first he wasn{t sure, but every time we go he is more and more excited and he loves asking questions. He came to church Sunday. In Sunday school, something was mentioned about not drinking coffee, and he was like, why? And then the teacher explained because it was a revelation and a commandment that we shouldn't. And he was like, wow, that's interesting, because they{re finding that it has things in it that are really bad for your body. It was pretty cool. He is really interested. Its great.

That's about all I can think of for this week. We were stuck in the house a LOT. But life is good and the work continues forward. I love being a missionary even though sometimes its tough, but its a lot easier when you rely on our savior. He is always there for us. Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week. And keep studying you preach my gospel!!!

7/14/14

I miss my old area, but I love this area too!!! I am seeing a lot more miracles. To start with, we gave 8 people baptismal dates in the first contact. Pretty exciting. Maybe not a huge number for some missionaries, but for 1 week here and having only 3 investigators before... Its pretty awesome! And so many of them are so prepared!

Another miracle. We had just fisished a lesson and were walking back to the members house. I had a strong impression I needed to contact the girl on the corner. So, I pulled out a plan of salvation pamphlet and started with the contact. When we asked where she lived, she started bawling and said she didnt have a home, her parents died and she had nothing. So, we began to explain about the plan of salvation and that she can be with her parents again. We also had been given cookies earlier in the day, so we pulled them out and gave them to her. She was so excited. Then the member said she had some clothes for her. It was really cool to be able to help this poor woman and to help her have comfort and to feel her saviors love. I loved it.
We were walking by a house and a sweet old lady yelled that she had our book and wanted to give it back. So we waited to see, expecting a book of mormon. Well, it was one, but from 1985!!!! Its so old and beautiful. And its a lot thicker, its nice they have made the pages thinner. Its a special book.

There is this one investigator. She is sweet. She has a little bit of a learning problem, so we have to take everything a lot slower, but she goes to church every week and loves it. Shes a sweetheart and Shes progressing nicely.

Thats about all I have time for this week, but the work of the Lord is moving forward! Every memeber a missionary! Love you all!!!

Transfers

Well, the day has finally come where I leave my wonderful home of Ampliacion and enter into the land of Cuautemoc. I hate saying goddbyes. But it will be good to get to know new people. My area is very close to the mission house. AH! But it'll be good. My "Mom" (my trainer) said a few days before she was sure that I was going to Cuautemoc because I have to be near a hospital.... That's comforting... Haha. Welcome to my life in Mexico. But my health hasn't been that bad....

Anyways, My little JW is progressing so well and came to church again. She loved testimony meeting. (I bore my testimony! And the gift of tongues definitely took over) I really think she will be baptized because she is so prepared. We had a lesson the other day with her, and at the end I was bearing my testimony that we had been called by a prophet and she started bawling. She was sad because she had been a Jehovahs Witness and taught lts of people the wrong thing. She wants to go on a mission. We, well, my old companion and her new companion, just have to help her understand Jehovah and Jesus are the same person.

We went to visit a less active elderly couple who I love dearly. They remind me a lot of gma and gpa Chris. Well, the woman a little while ago broke her arm. She has taken a turn for the worst and isnt doing well at all. So, my companion was talking to her daughter and she asked me to sing hymns to her. So I sat by her side and sang. It was special. I wont lie I was terrifyed she was going to stop breathing at any moment, but she didnt. So that was good. It was a tender moment.

I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve and to get to help people come unto Christ every day. It is amazing to get to see peoples life change for the better and to see the Atonement work in their lives. Its amazing to be a missionary and we always need to do his will not ours.

Love you all and hope that all is well!

The Jehovah's Witness

Well, this week I saw a miracle. Well, many, but one in particular. We had a referral to go find, and when we met her, shes a JW. Ya´ll know, the people that shove a bible in your face and tell you your wrong? Ok, Im not meaning to be rude, it just how they are here. Anyways, so, we went to talk to her. We gave her a book of Mormon and at first she wouldn´t touch it. But then we were explaining things and then she agreed to read. A few days later we went to visit her and she had read the first 8 chapers! That may not sound like a lot, but it was only like 2 days. The best part, SHE LIKED IT! So, we were teaching her and invited her to church. Sunday we texted her to remind her we were coming for her. Then the phone rang and we were so scared she was going to cancel. She had just called to say she was ready! So, we went and got her and she liked church. A few things she was really confused about, like why her bible was different, but overall she liked it and wants to go back next week! She also has baptismal date set. Its pretty wonderful. She is so prepared. She is also very intrigued by the plan of salvation.

Also, the other day we were walking and nobody was home, so we felt we should go visit a less active. When we got there, her friend was there. I had taught her with my other companion before. She said, "I was JUST thinking about you this morning." So, we taught her a little bit, and then I felt like I blew it. I aksed what her address was, and that apparently killed the lesson... But then, Sundayshe called and was ready for church and she went with us! It was just a small sign that its the lords work, not ours. What blessings.

Thats about all I can rememver at the moment, but it was a wonderful week and I feel so blessed every single day. Its amazing to see the Lords hands in everything. Literally everything. Its his work and it cant be stopped. Even by everybody watching the World cup, it cant be stopped.

Love you all!!!!

This Week from the Land of the Book of Mormon

Well, this week I witnessed a miracle. We have this investigator. He is amazing. His family, they are all members. He has listened to the Elders for YEARS. And nothing. On Saturday, we went to visit him and his family. We were talking and we asked what was his doubt. And he talked about how he was afraid of commitment. So, we talked about a few things and then the spirit was so strong in that lesson. He was crying, his wife was crying, we were crying, it was powerful. And he sad he knew it was true. So we asked if he would come to church the next day. Instead of his regular excuse, he said, Yes. He would find a way that he could make it. Sunday came, and we were waiting. And he wasn´t there. So, we sat down and the opening hymn began. I was devastated. And then, he walked in with a big nervous smile on his face. Im pretty sure my heart left my chest I was so excited. He didnt just stay for the first hour either, he stayed for all 3! He loved Sunday school and wanted to look for EVERY scripture the teacher said and he was so excited. It was truly the Lords hand. It was amazing.

One of our other investigators told us a story. One day, she was really sad and just didn't know what to do anymore. So, she said a prayer that morning asking what she should do. What God wanted for her and her family. that same day is the day my old companion and I contacted her. She said she was kinda freaked out a bit because it was so fast. Then she told us about how her husband had started reading her book of Mormon and was interested too. She then told us a story about how her son, people had tried to kidnap him. He said a prayer and the people said he wasn´t the one, and let him go. She said she knows he has a plan for her family. It was wonderful. We testified that we knew he has a plan too. A little later in the lesson she asked, " After I am baptized, are they going to ship me away on a mission too?" We then explained that its a choice, and if she wanted to, she could. It was kind of funny.

We had one family that was a referral, so we went to go find them. When we got to their house, there wasn't a car or anything, but we "knocked" anyways. No one answered. So we wrote a little note and put a Family proclamation pamphlet in their door. As we turned around, they pulled up. It was kinda awkward. But, they were so welcoming and willing to listen! They are a great couple and I cant wait to go back and teach then more.

Its always a great time serving the Lord and his children. Sometimes its rally hard, but I find that is when we are more focused on what we want than what he wants. I feel so blessed everyday. Life is good. The Lord will bless you when you do what he asks. I love you all and hope you´re studying your preach my gospel. My mission presidents grandson who is 5 has read the whole thing already. You can too!! LOVE YOU!
