5/26/14

Well, this week, we didn't teach a whole lot because we had a lot of other things. But, it was still great!

To tell you about my week, I think I will go by days.
.
Monday- Pday! I made a skirt! But I didn't finish it because I didn't have time....But its a work in progress. We went to visit a less active couple, who are elderly, and when we got there, the woman had fallen and broken her arm in 2 places and was in the hospital. I don't want to get old... Anyways, so, our back up plan was to visit a different less active. So went went, and she was in a pile of her grandsons homework. One of the things needing to be done was a border around every page. Different color and pattern. Ridiculous if you ask me, but we helped anyways. Thats about all...

Tuesday- Divisions! This time, divisions went a lot better than the past few times. We gave service, went to the hospital, (for the sister training leader, not me.) And taught! While we were at the doctor, I decided when I get home, I think I could be a doctor for people who speak Spanish, because I think that's my best vocabulary. Haha. One of our lessons we had, the member that went with us started right into the lesson and was explaining deep doctrine. It was kinda scary to the investigator. The investigator has been to SLC and visited Temple Square. also, her son is a member. When we were teaching, she said she wasn't gong to change her religion. Towards the end, I felt I needed to ask how she felt at the temple. She then shared a lot of spiritual experiences, and said she knows this church is true. But she wants a little more time before being baptized.

Wed- We practically taught nothing. We had our weekly district meeting, ate lunch super fast, and then went to the temple. It was so cool to have all of the sister missionaries in the same session. There were about 4 Men and 40 something women. It was a wonderful experience. And it was ALL in Spanish.

Thurs- We had the conference for all of the sisters. From 9am-5:30 pm. It was great. I really enjoyed it. We listened to a lot of talks from the sister training leaders and then we got to craft! I was in heaven. That night we had a lesson with our special investigator and her boyfriend. He speaks English! So, when I didn't know a word, I could say it and he understood! And he has very little religious background, but he is so open to the spirit. It was amazing.

Friday/Saturday- Nothing to exciting happened these days...

Sunday- We were pretty much running all day. we had breakfast with a less active and her friend showed up. So, we invited her to church. she agreed! Then we had to run to get Marlene. there were 8 of us and a 5 passenger car. so, my companion and I ran to go find a taxi and then Marlene drove up and we all went together. It was squishy. We got to church late, and I gave my first official talk. After, one of the members of the bishopric said he witnessed a miracle and the gift of tongues. Aww. Then we found out about transfers. I'm getting a new companion. So, my companion wanted to get as many pictures with people as we could,. it was exciting.

Thats about all. Love you all and hope you have a great week!!

Pictures from the Hospital

Before you freak out, these were taken at the very beginning of her mission when they were trying to figure out why she was so sick. Apparently they gave here these sheets to cover herself and then left to run some of the labs. The relief society president took some pictures of her "feeling liked death."

5/12/14

Time is FLYING. I am positive yesterday was Monday. Its crazy how fast time is going by! I completed 5 months yesterday. What? I just entered the Mtc. I'm pretty sure its a sign of the times. I remember when I was still home and my good friend Elder Ferguson kept writing things about the second coming. I never realized why until I got in the mission. The scriptures talk a LOT about the second coming and the latter days. Its really pretty cool to study. The scriptures are the word of God and they are there to help us! So, read them everyday. But ya´ll are already doing that I'm sure. Along with Preach my Gospel. Because you all are amazing! And if you aren´t, there is repentance.

Our mission president has set a small schedule of things for us to study in the mornings. This past week was about the Holy Ghost. In our Zone meeting, the zone leaders did a practice where they had EVERYONE teach a lesson. It was pretty cool. About 14 missionaries teaching the same 2 people. Imagine being and investigator being taught by that many people... Anyways, it was really cool because everyone went off the spirit and it wasn't discombobulated! I have learned a lot about the spirit this week and the importance of having the spirit in the work.

Skyping was the weirdest thing. It was great and I loved it, but it was weird. Dad, so glad Jerusalem went great. Still super jealous. To stand where Jesus stood. i just, its amazing. M. is so big!! And he is so good at sign language. I think Beckman would be proud. I am. And he is probably the cutest thing on the plant. Rach, PLEASE take a video when you go bungee jumping. Wish I could go with you. But I like to have my feet on solid ground too....

I don't really know what else to write this week. It was pretty much the same as usual. helping people come unto Christ and feel loved. Its probably the best feeling. I love you all and hope you are doing great. The work of God cant be stopped. It will continue to go forth. Whether there are shootings, car bombings (yesterday! Weeee) or whatever else. It will go forth! Love you all!!!

5/5/14

Know what is the best? Seeing the Light start in peoples eyes and watching it grow. It is amazing. For example, this week we met a new investigator. He makes salsa. When we first got to his house, I was pretty sure he only wanted to talk to us about his salsa. But, when we finally got into the lesson, the light began to grow. When we talked about the Holy Ghost and gave him a book of Mormon, he cried. It was amazing. I don´t know why, but its more special when a grown man cries. Probably because girls cry all the time... Who knows.

Another new investigator. He is 19 and studying to become a doctor. We were teaching the restoration and he was so intrigued. He wanted to know more and more. When we talked about Joseph Smith, he thought it was the most amazing thing. When we gave him a Book of Mormon, he held it and looked at it like it was a new born baby. His face was so happy. I am so blessed to get to be here helping the Lords work.

Also, I love getting to work with the less actives. They are such wonderful people. Everyone just needs a friend. If everyone would just reach out to one another and love one another, we would live in such a happy world. So, I invite you to reach out to 1 person who doesn´t have friends, and BE their friend. They NEED you. I promise. Everyone wants friends, well, I think they all do.... So, be the friend. Be the one who changed someones life because you were there for them.

One of our less actives we visited this week was in depression. It was so sad. When the spirit told me to say "I have faith in you" I did. And she lit up and asked if I was serious. Of course I was. The next day, she came to church and even bore her testimony. Its amazing what can happen with just simple words. And I know it wasn´t me that got her to come. Try to be an instrument in the hands of the Lord. Because that's about all we are. When we are trying our hardest, he will help us do the rest. I know that.

I'm not sure what else to write about this week, but I hope all is well! I love you all and hope you are studying your preach my gospel!!
