6/1/15

Well, what can I say. This year and a half FLEW by. I can NOT believe in 1 week I will be flying back home. I feel so thankful for all the time I have had here in Mexico. I can honestly say I have learned a lot. I have been able to meet so many wonderful people. The people here are the best. Especially hermana Anly el. She was baptized this week!!!! Everything went great!! Here's more on that subject.

So, Saturday in the morning, we went to the church to fill the font. When we got there, it was full, but with water from about a week or more ago. So, we had to drain the whole thing. When all the water was gone, the floor was brown!! EWWWW!  so, then I got to scrub the whole thing. It was quite the adventure. After we cleaned, we tried to use the pump to get rid of the leftover water, but it wouldn't go away. SO, we had to scoop it all out with buckets. And buckets, and buckets! Finally, it was clean!!! So, then we had to fill it back up! So, we were in the church from 12-4:30 cleaning. The baptism was at 5. So, we pretty much didn't get to go work all day, but it was worth it. The baptism was beautiful! And almost all of our zone came to the baptism, so we sang "the armies of Helaman" IN ENGLISH!!! May I mention I was the only American singing. It was a proud moment for my companions. :) Anel shared her testimony and made everyone cry. Sunday, she was confirmed and she said she "feels different." Saturday she is going with out ward to do baptisms for the dead. Her whole story is just a miracle. I cant wait to tell you all more.

Today we are off to Tampico. I'm off to have my last interview and tomorrow we are going to the temple for the last time. Its kinda sad. But all will be well.

I know this is the true church. I know Joseph Smith was called as a prophet of God and that he helped to restore the church of Jesus Christ. I know that Christ has payed for each and everyone of us. We need to do our part. If you want to hear a beautiful talk, look up "His grace is sufficient" by Brad Wilcox. It will change your life. I promise. I know that the Atonement of Christ is the biggest gift we have. I know God lives and loves us. His love is bigger than we can imagine. I know the plan of salvation is real and that we CAN live as families for forever! I know that the Lord is preparing his children to receive the gospel, and we all need to do our part to help. I know that prayer is powerful and that God listens. I know we need to study and pray everyday, even if its something so small. We need it. Not because its a commandment, but because our spirits literally need it. I know that we will be blessed when we pay or tithing and offerings. But, sooooo blessed! More blessed that what the money we give can buy. I know that all the principles of the gospel are true and that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is perfect, even if the members aren't. I know we need to build a firm foundation so that when the trials come, ( like a bad look, or gossip or anything) we don't fall away. We go to church for Christ and to remember him, not for the people. So, build your foundation.

I love you all. Remember that Jesus loves you.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy life! Always have a smile. :D
Love,

Lluvia de gatos y perros!!!

In last last few days, we have had some CRAZY storms. but I mean crazy!!! Last night we were teaching our investigators, and BOOM! High winds, lighting EVERYWHERE (and every color), and super hard rain. It was crazy! It was late and we needed to be in our house in a few minutes, so we called taxis and even thought about walking, but nothing worked. Thew people we were with said that in these storms, trees fall like crazy, and take power lines with them, for that reason we didn't walk. So, we were stuck in there house. The mom had her granddaughter of about 3 there, and she was so scared. So we sang I am a child of God, and she calmed down really fast. Then finally, out of nowhere, our recent convert showed up in her car and gave us a ride home! There were trees EVERYWHERE and yes, lots of wires. we almost hit some because they blended right in. We felt so protected. Also, it was special to be able to help calm the little sweetheart down only by singing. (secretly it helped her youngest daughter of 12 years as well).

As for Anel, SHES GOING TO BE BAPTIZED SATURDAY IF ALL GOES WELL!!!!!!!!!!!! She had her interview and she is more than ready. She seriously is so special, there are SO many things against her to get baptized, but to her, nothing is more important. She has such a firm testimony. She says she feels "full" like she had a big empty space and now it is finally full. If she is walking in the street with us, SHE contacts people first and shares her testimony. She loves sharing what she knows and we gave her preach my gospel (in Spanish and English) this week and she loves to study it!!! She helps the ward so much. She helps them to love each other more and she participates a lot in the classes and people always leave thanking he for her comments. I cant even tell you all the wonderful things that happen with her because there are so many small special miracles.

Saturday, we were supposed to have a special ward fast. we planned it all out that everyone was going to meet Saturday to start and then finish after church. Well, Saturday, NO ONE CAME. NO. ONE. We were a little sad, but we had our little devotional and then said our prayer to start. We later learned that some of the members DID start there fast, they just couldn't make it to the church. Some of them came to the small lunch we had after church. Sometimes I just wish we could have like a potluck like in South Dakota... or a fast like in Utah...but one day it will work out!!!  Yay!!!

Well, I was thinking, next week, I probably wont really respond to many emails, so please only write me if you have something really important, (or if you are a missionary). Thank you.

Love you all sooooo very much! This has been the best time ever. Have a wonderful week!!!!! LOVES!!!!!!!!

5/11/15

Well, remember the story from last week? IT GETS BETTER!!!!

So, we have been visiting Anel. There have been LOTS of spiritual experiences. Like, Thursday, we didn't have planned to go visit, but we felt the need to go see her. When we got there, her Mom was home! (she never is there, she works from like 6 am to 10 pm) So, she sat down and talked with us too. She loves it! She said she is going to work to get Sundays off so she can go to church. We also had given Anel a Book of Mormon this week. She prayed and received her answer in a really special way. Also, in two days she had read until 1 Nephi 17. When she got to work, they did a bag check, and the boss called her into her office. She told her to put the Book of Mormon in a box and to tell her whats in the book, because EVERYONE in her work has seen her change a lot this week, and she wanted to know if she was really reading it or if she just liked what we were teaching. So, she told her she hasn't read a ton, but she has prayed and she KNOWS it is true. She also testified of Joseph smith and she just stood up to her boss for what she believed. When she finished, her boss said, "Welcome, and have a great day." She then explained that her mom is a member, and she (well, technically still is..) was a member, but decided to marry a Christian and so she fell away from the church. She told her to keep learning and studying. On Saturday, we taught the first part of the plan of Salvation, and it brought her to tears, because she has had some really big trials in her life. She said that it gave her so much hope. She also isn't a person that cries much. I just cant even explain how special and so prepared she is. Yesterday she went with us to go get a few other new investigators to come to church! She testifies in the classes. She is ready. Hope fully on June 6th, she will be baptized. OH! She also said yesterday that now her whole family is reading the Book of Mormon with her. and that sometimes they secretly are listening to the lessons. :D

Also, this week we were walking and we saw a mother and daughter. We contacted them and at first they weren't super interested, but the something changed. They got super interested and the Mother said that she had a 17 year old son who wants to go to church, but one where he has classes with people his age, not with old people. YOUNG MENS! Yay! So, on Sunday, they came!! And they loved it!!

We are just seeing so many miracles and there are so many people that are prepared. It is so amazing. Also, I have learned a lot here in Valles, talk to EVERYONE. I mean, before I felt like I was, but, we try to not let a single person pass by with out talking to them. It really helps.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week. This is the Lords work and we all need to work together. And most of all with the Lord. We cant do it alone. We are nothing, but with him, we can do all things. Love you all!!!!

Liahona Experience

You know those super awesome experiences that happen in the Liahona, and you always think, "HOW COOL!!!!! If only that happened to me....." Well, this week, that one of those moments happened!!!

Thursday, we were walking along the dirt road. My companion uses a umbrella to block the sun,and all of the sudden, there was a gust of wind! Well, her umbrella went flying in the air. We started laughing, and a young woman saw, and was laughing too. She then was walking towards us like she knew us. My companion too, so I just kinda followed thinking it was someone she knew. Well, she didn't. We started talking to her, and we just felt something different. Like we had known her for forever. Well, we set up an appointment and returned 2 days later. When we got there, she was so excited. She explained her dad had seen the pamphlet we gave her and it reminded him of when the elders visited their family years and years ago. She also said that when she had meet the Elders, they played the hymns on guitar, and she loved that. So, we sang a hymn and started in on the first lesson. When we were talking about prayer, she said she had to tell us something. 2 days before we met her, she had been praying. But she says harder than she ever has in her life. She asked for someone to help her know what God wants for her. She said when she saw us, she felt the need to talk to us. She also said, that the night before our appointment, she had been reading the Bible, and she read a scripture that told her messengers were coming to teach her the truth. She also said she was in the process of getting engaged, but she prayed, and didn't feel like it was right. So, after the amazing lesson, she was telling us how her friend is a member, and he has a girlfriend that's like her sister. Turs out, the girlfriend is one of our other golden investigators! Anyways, so we told her we would pass by for her Sunday at 11. Unfortunately, ward counsel went SUPER late, and it was almost time to start. So, we panicky found someone with a car and she took us to her house. When we got there, her mom said she got desperate and went by herself. So, back to the church we went, and when we got there, SHE WAS THERE! After the sacrament meeting, ALL the members were greeting her (They thought she was a missionary :D )and she saw her friend there, and they were so happy to be there together. In relief society, she shared her experience, and all the sisters cried and told her she is where she belongs. They also planned to go to a YSA fireside later that night! I just cant even tell you all how amazing its been. The Lord really is preparing people. If you doubt it, think again.

We also got to listen to Elder Johnson, a 70. He talked about keeping the sabbath day holy. Well, I always thought I was keeping it holy, but I learned I'm not. He read a scripture in Isaiah 58:13-14 and it talks about how we need to do the will of the LORD not ours. So, I'm going to be a lot better in that. It was also cool because we got to go to a city where there have not been sister missionaries, so we felt kinda special.

Well, that's my spiritual experience of this week. Hope it helped you all like it has me. We will see what happens next. :D

Loves to everyone!!!

4/27/15

Well, today is cambios! (changes/transfers) I am now in Valles. Its a land different than Tampico. There is NO humidity, BUT! It gets pretty hot here. supposedly its supposed to get to about 65 this week.... That's in Celsius. In Fahrenheit that's about 149 degrees. WHOOO!!!! Im pretty excited, and hoping to not get dehydrated. Lots of water!

Also, I am now with Hermana Calvo! She is from Monterrey. She loves to sing and she totally called that we were going to be companions. She is really great and I'm so excited to work with her.

This week was a little frustrating in the work of salvation because the shootings began again. So, we were in the house a lot. But what we could do was good. We had a FHE on Tuesday, like a "pj party" so we could include the son of our investigators a little bit better. We invited lots of members and it went really well. OH! Cool story. On Friday we went to stay the night with some other sisters because they were fixing our house. So, we got there early and supposedly we were going to be in the house early for the security problems. But, then they changed it and we could keep working. So we went on mini divisions. The sister I went with went home today (she finished), but we were contacting referrals. We contacted one and then asked if any of her neighbors would be interested. She named a few of her neighbors, and so we went to visit one. When we got there, there were a TON of statues of the Virgin Mary, so we thought, this isn't going to go well. So we rang her intercom, and she said, "what do you offer?" So we said, "a message about Jesus Christ!" Then things went silent..................and we waited..............and waited............... And THEN! She turned the light on and opened the door! She was so super nice and willing to listen to us. She then told us she was in the middle of cooking, but would like for us to return. We walked away and my companion said, "Did that just happen?" It was cool.

Saturday we had a talent show! My companion and I did the sketch of where she is my arms and she id my make-up. It was really funny. Sadly time is up, but have a wonderful week!!! I love you all and read your scriptures!!! :D

4/20/15

This week was quite enjoyable. On Tuesday, we had super divisions! so, everyone in our zone was put with a different companion. Our sister training leaders joined in, so, I got to go back to Cuauhtemoc!! Oh how I missed those wonderful people. It was so great to see them. Every single appointment we had feel through. We literally walked the entire day long!! But it was great because we got to talk with EVERYONE in the street. We met lots of wonderful people who need the gospel. It was so great we didn't even feel how bad our feet hurt... until we got home. Haha

Friday, 2 of my ex companions had to come to Tampico to see the doctor. So, they got to stay with us! We had "divisions" in our area, so, we got lots more work done! Also, I got to be with one of my ex comps and enjoy working together again. At night time we enjoyed tacos and lots of memories and laughs. It was wonderful! But now I understand why they don't put 4 missionaries in one house... haha But it was enjoyable while it lasted.

Saturday we had our ward activity we have been planning for about a month. It was a success!! We went on a "cruse ship" and everyone was given money to spend. They could go to the dance bar, the casino, church, seminary, or the movies. spend their money how they pleased. Each room was worth 1, 2, or 3 and the person in charge of the room marked 1, 2, or 3 depending on which room. 1 meant celestial, 2 terrestrial, 3 telestial. It the end we gave those with more 3s a anchor, and with 1 a lifesaver. They went to paradise or jail depending on which it was. Then the bishop judged them by their ticket and sent them to their glory, where we had some members waiting to explain each glory. It rocked, to say the least. And the next day in church, it was FULL! This ward doesn't have the best assistance, but it was full yesterday! In our principles of the gospel class, we had to kick the youth out of their room so we could open the overflow to fit everyone in! My companion and I got the opportunity to teach our relief society class as well. I think it was the first time that no one said to the teachers, "no, that's wrong," or something along those lines, because they are always so mean to the teachers. It makes me sad.

Lots more happened, but my time is up. Love you all and hope all is more than well. If it isn't, its probably your attitude. If you don't like how something is, change it, if you cant, change you! :D Love you all!!!!

4/13/15

Crocodiles!!! They are so cool. This is our convert. Just kidding, but I think he likes the water, so maybe? haha Anyways.....

This week was stressful. Thursday, we were just about to start our weekly planning meeting, when one of our investigators sent us a text that said she had a miscarriage, and was home alone (with her 5 year old son.) Also, no one in her family lives here and everyone else was at work. So, we went running to her aid. Its kinda a special moment when you get to just be there for someone. It made me think a little about when my Mom passed away, and how everyone was there. A lot of times we think, "I don't know what to say! I don't know how I can help!" But truthfully, just be there. TH}hat is more than enough. And, when you share the gospel to help, it makes it a million times better. We gave her a Liahona from February, and she Loved it!

Saturday we had an activity. One of my favorite things to do. We made......... CUPCAKES!!!! :D Sadly, it wasn't super well attended. But, those who came enjoyed it. But the best part? We did like we always did in singles ward. Took the cupcakes to the less active/inactive members and gave them a note and showed our love for them!+ It was really exciting. We got the chance to go visit Consuelo. She is 91 years old and stuck in her bed. She is quite sick, but she was so super happy to know that the ward cared about her and that she isn't alone. This Saturday we have another activity planned, and my companion and I are SUPER excited. Hopefully lots of people come..... Because if they don't.... I will be sad, but keep going, because that's all you can do!

Also, there was a problem with some of our converts, so for now, we cant visit them. :( So sad.

Another cool thing happened. We went with a different sister than normal one day. She asked if we had ever gone to a park that, SURPRISE! is in our area. We honestly had never gone to that part of our area. So, she said we should go. So, we were walking, and we asked if she has ever given a Book of Mormon to a -c}complete stranger. She said no, so, we pulled one out and asked if she wanted to. She said she would try. We were walking in the park, and she said she wanted to give it to a lady sitting on the bench. Well, turns out she is a member! Of our ward! But, goes to a different ward.... But said she was going to go to our ward because now she knows what time. It was really great because we got to see the hand of the Lord. If we hadn't gone, we never would have found her. And we found a bunch of different other members live there as well! How exciting!

Sometimes my mind thinks a lot more in Spanish than English, so sometimes it takes a lot longer to write than it should, and I am sure there are lots of errors. Lo siento.

Espero que todos pueden tener una semana tan maravillosa!!! Les amo con todo mi corazón!!

3/30/15

So sorry. I have like 5 minutes. This week was great! I will share my favorite experience.

This week we took some investigators to the temple. We had lunch and then a tour of the grounds. They were so excited. They loved it. Then we asked permission if they could sit in the waiting room. they said yes, so we went inside. They didnt want to leave, even though they were almost an hour late to another thing. You could feel the spirit so strong. They were just so happy. When we walked out, the mom said, "Can we go back in, its so different than out here." Yes it is. Then we met some young women. They had come from a part of Veracruz. They asked if we were elders, because they have never seen sister missionaries in person. It was sweet. They were just so excited. We felt famous. they wanted our picture and to learn all about the mission and how it is. It truly was special.

PAY ATTENTION TO CONFERENCE! Listen to every word! I don't understand the people who take it as nothing of importance. Maybe i was just blessed to grow up in a family where it is super important... Who knows, but it will be GREAT!!!!!!

Love you all and hope you have the most wonderful week!!!!

3/23/15

Well, things went well this week!

First off, I had my first nightmare about going home. I got home and I couldn't talk at all in English with my Awesome sister Stephanie. And then i was unpacking, and had a panic attack because we forgot my suitcases in the airport. (the ones I was taking stuff out of). And other assorted things.

Also, we saw lots of miracles this week! One, one of the brothers gave us a referral, and so we went to me them. They asked if we could return the second day because the dad was going to work. So, we returned the next day. The dad has had quit the hard life. His wife left him alone with 3 children. One only days old. And he has come really close to dying many times. Lots of things..... Anyways, so we returned and had a lovely lesson. We invited them to church the next day, and the dad said he couldn't this Sunday because he had work, but the next he would. But, his kids wanted to go. The sister that was with us offered to take them. So, the next day, all 3 of them came to church! And we gave them paper to doodle, and they would draw something they learned from each talk! It was so sweet. They seriously are so special. The dad promised next week he will be there.

Another. In my first Ward, I met this one family. Later on, I met their parents in another area. Now, The sister of the father is in our Ward. Well, her other brother came to visit and so we contacted him. Well, we have taught him 3 times now and he is quite excited. But, he keeps saying he is going to go to reynosa... But for "some reason" he hasn't been able to leave. I think there is a reason..... :) Also, he has never listened to the missionaries because their family doesn't talk about religion with one another. that's so sad.... But, his family is really excited that he is listening.

Um.... That's all I can think of right now..... But conference is almost here!!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Start preparing!!!!

Loves to all and hope all is magnificent!!!!

WEll, the day has finally come. I now have a "Baby." Well, actually its more like a toddler because she has 6 weeks, but, I get to finish training the lovely Hermana Montalvo! Yay! This is going to be fun. Not going to lie i am a little terrified, but its going to be awesome.

The space bar doesn't work well, so if there are problems, sorry.....

This last week was AWESOME! The Ramons were baptized!!!! It was one of the loveliest baptisms. The talks were great. The ordinance went well. Poor grandpa Ramon had to do it twice because the first time his feet shot out. but its not easy to baptize a 83 year old. While they were changing we put "the touch of the masters hand" on. Everyone was crying because the spirit was so strong. Then my companion Andi sang a song.I dont know if it exists in English, but it talks about finding our friends from the premortal life. Its really beautiful. People were crying like crazy. Even the bishop who is the biggest jokster couldn't stop crying, and he don't cry! One of our other investigators went, and now he just wants to enter the water. Hes just got to get married! I don't understand why that's such a big problem here, but it is. Anyways, they were so happy and the spirit was so strong.

Also, it rained lots! Which means floods! We live right by a lagoon filled with crocodiles... They like to leave the water when it rains. Its exciting. Watch your step!!

I have lots of pictures from this week, but the computer wont read my card.... Boo. So sorry. But next week i will send them!

This week I have been brought to think a lot about what kind of impression we want others to have of us. I have heard a lot this week, "OH! You are the sister that is full of love! " or "I have heard lots about you. This member from another ward says they always felt loved when they were with you." Well, I have been thinking about it because at first for some strange reason it bothered me." Am I good for nothing more than to love others?" But you know what I learned, Love is the key to everything. So its ok. Its ok if I still cant teach perfectly. Its ok if my Spanish still isn't like a Hispanic persons is. Its ok if don't have all the answers. God is love. We need to share it. So, share your love! Don't be afraid to let it show! Be yourself. You are unique, so don't be someone else.

That's about it. Love you all so very much! Conference is coming!!!! YAY!!!! Start preparing for the inspired words!!!

LOVES!!!!

The Break In

This weeks been SUPER exciting.

First off, The ramons passed their baptismal interviews!!! So, this Saturday is their baptism! YAY!!! They are so excited. The Dad Ramon we learned has had 5 heart attacks and a few other scary medical problems. Just goes to show God has a plan for each and everyone, and he is going to help you get where you need to be even if there are lots of challenges on the way.

Also, this week our landlord wanted to fix a few thing in the house, so we got sent to my last area to sleep. My brain was so confused going to and from my last area to my new one. But, the exciting thing. Are you ready? I don't think you are.....

It was a dark and stormy night. Two young missionaries were staying in a new house. One had been there before, and knew of the terrors that lived near by. So, of course, she warned her companion. These two missionaries were obedient, and went to bed at 10:30 like they should. All was calm and quite. They were a little cold, but all was well. BUT THEN! The one missionary heard her companion screaming her name. She woke up, and could hear what the problem was. Someone. Was. Trying. To. Open. The. Door. They could hear a key turning in the lock. And then.... The sound of someone DESPERATELY trying to come in. One of the missionaries suffers from panic attacks, and so the other had to be the big girl. Well, She called president while trying to calm down her sweet companion. He said to get something to defend ourselves with. I chose the frying pan. He then said he would call a member that lived near by and the Elders. Well, when the brother got there, the sound had stopped. And we were saved. The Elders had ran probably about a mile and a half with broom sticks, (Around 12 at night) and got called to go home about a block away. Then they were wonderful and sang hymns to calm us down over the phone and then said a beautiful prayer. Props to these Elders. So yeah, that was probably one of the most scariest moments of my life and I didn't even scream. haha. Its always an adventure here! Also, I know we were protected.

Also, this week There have been LOTS of events that have just made me feel so grateful for the life have been able to have. We are so blessed. I have been blessed to live in a house full of love and protection. I have the best parents anyone could ask for. The best sisters too. I'm so grateful for all I have. And not the worldly things, but the eternal things. the scriptures are of so much worth. Please read them if you aren't. They were meant to be read, not to help in your collection of dust bunnies. Think of some of the things you have been blessed with. Then gives thanks for all of them, and then more!!

I love you all and hope that we can all keep growing in the faith. Do something everyday to feed your soul. Ok? LOVES to the moon and back!!!

3/2/15

This week was pretty great! Lots of work. The Ramons are progressing a lot! the 14th they should be getting baptized. Whohoo!

This week I learned that it is so important to bless your house. Priesthood is super powerful. I will explain more one day....Anyways....

I have new scripture cases!! They are exciting! One is like an elder and the other a sister! one of the members here makes them. I will send picutres.

I seriously cant remember what happened this week. All I know is that I was just here writing yesterday, but really it was a week ago. But im sure it was yesterday....

OH! Also, I have a goal to finish reading the Book of Mormon in spanish before conference. Its quite eventful. Reading The Book of Mormon with a purpose is so much better. Its like, Why do you go to work? For a purpose. So, reading this precious book should be the same. I have been looking for all the MANY times it talks about Christ, his atributes, His Doctrine, and recently added, the restoration. Somedays it just has the words that I needed for comfort, other days, to whip me into shape. Always what I need though, and even better, What the people we teach need! Its a powerful book. Read it everyday!!!

The other day we were walking to a lesson, and I really needed the bathroom. We were walking past a lady sweeping, and I felt the need to contact her, unfortunately, my need for the bathroom outweighed that thought. But not my companion! So, we contacted her and learned a little about her life. She was a single mom and didnt have work. We offered to say a prayer with her and gave her a Book of Mormon. The second time we went back, SHE FOUND WORK!!! She was so excited and explained that when we left she thought, "well, maybe this WILL work." and it did. BUT, she works sundays now.... But We have faith that it will all work out. She is great!

We also are teaching another man. Its super stressful. Elderly people that have no one to talk to are lots harder to teach because they just want to tell you everything. And I mean EVERYTHING! But, we are still trying to be patient. I am definately learning patience here. haha But, it was cool, he said he had a Book of Mormon. Its from the 80s but still the same content of course. The first lesson, he had a virgin Mary on the wall, but the second he didnt, and said, "its not good to have images right?" so, maybe he is progressing. He went to church atleast!

Um.......
Well, I hope everyone is doing well. Life is wonderful. The Church is true. Jesus is our redeemer. One day we can all live happily ever after. BUT we have to work for it.
I love you all!!!!! Have a FANTASTIC week and learn lots! Invite someone to church!! And be happy!

2/23/15

First off, BLANCA WAS BAPTIZED!!! It was so special. President gave us permission to go. She was so excited and the most special was her testimony. It was special to go back and to have so many wonderful memories of teaching her and remebering how she bore her testimony her first sunday. Shes so special. I like the word special today....

Also, the father and son are progressing nicely! hopefully second saturday they will be entering into the waters of baptism. This week we taught the word of wisdom. We thought for sure stopping drinking coffee would be really hard for them, but so far, it hasnt been a problem! They love going to church and they are always waiting for us with everything all ready. They participat really well in  all the classes and are just so excited. They are special.

This sunday I got asked to give a talk. I kinda "planchared" the whole ward. That means I kinda chewed them out in other words. If you want to know how, read the parabol of the talents but change talents for friends. Yesterday we rercieved a lot more refferals though without even asking for them, so maybe they got my point. haha but, the part that to me was special, I hardly didnt even read my "written" talk. I think thats the first time..... EVER. so that was cool.

Want to know what else is special? YOU!!!! Each and everyone!! Never ever forget that!!

Question for the day, Why do you think it is so important to study the gospel?

Love you all!!! Hermana Stanger

2/16/15

This week was interesting.

Know whats exciting about the people here? They MUST be right. It can get pretty exciting at times. Especially in ward counsel. This sunday, us missionaries prepared a ward mission plan to help the ward make one. Well, some people wanted different things, but didnt understand it was just an idea, nor gave us time to explain the goals. well, it was kinda like a boxing match, but without literal punches. It was like, Mission leader in this corner, sunday school president in that corner, and the relief society pres in another. DING DING DING!!! The spirit was NOT there. And we didnt really get anything accomplished. Boo.

The Ramons are progressing nicely! The little old grandpa cant see well, so the bishop gave him one of those GIANT book of Mormons. He was so excited. He reminds me a lot of Gpa Stanger.  The younger one like english a lot and so we gave him one of my pamphlets in english. He wants us to teach english classes. Its not a bad idea... They are almost ready for their baptism!!

Speaking of baptism, one of my investigators from cuauhtemoc is getting baptized saturday and hopefully we can go!! Im so excited for her.

Valentines day was great! It was funny, we were told we had a meeting with the bishop at 5. So we went and when we got there, it was a little ward party with tacos! Surprise! But, yes we did have a meeting with the bishop too. We also recived cute little balloons from a girl investigator, because in Mexico its the day of love and friendship. Haha

This morning we went for a nice walk around the Lagoon and found lots of crocodiles! And turtles, and iguanas and other such exciting things. I cant think of anything else.

Love you all!!!!

Walking Down the Boulevard

Well, this week went well. I love our new area! Lots of exciting and new things.

We have this father and son investigators. (Like 80 years and 50) they are great. The son lived in the USA for like 8 years and was looking and looking for a church. He said he had a dream where he went to our church and he felt really good. So he went there and now he is here continuing to progress! He loves it and reminds US of his baptismal date. Its pretty cool.

Also, there is a sweet convert. shes been going to church for years, but wasn't baptized because she wasn't married to her husband. Anyways, she is wonderful and tries so hard. Shes even been called as a counselor in the relief society!

We were teaching a family of "eternal investigators" (Same reason, need to marry.) and when we finished the lesson, we asked if they had any questions. Well, The husband went off on this story telling us about how his wife thinks he is cheating on her and then it was a calm big fight of words. So, when they finished, My companion and I had no idea what to do because we cant counsel them. BUT! We had a wonderful member with us who explained to them that we cant give them counsel like that and that they could talk to the bishop. He also said a few other things, but it was wonderful. Then the bishop went right away to visit them and see how he could help.

I really cant think of much else. The food is tasty. We have a bakery right down the street... You will never know good bread until you eaten the sweet bread. Its so good! I'm trying to be good... but sometimes the smell just wins and I cave. Haha.

Oh! one day we went to visit another convert. She had a friend over and this convert LOVES to share the gospel with EVERYONE! If the plumber comes, she invites them to listen to the missionaries! if she needs something from the store, she invites them to listen to the missionaries! That's what the world needs more of. Members willing to open their mouths and share the gifts the gospel gives. Anywho, so her friend was there. We tried to teach her, but the convert just wanted to explain everything. So, we just helped her when she said apostasy and explained the Book of Mormon to her. It was special.

Looks like I am out of time, but I love you all and hope you all have a wonderful week!!!
JUST KEEP SWIMMING!!!!

2/2/15

Well, SURPRISE!!! Only 1 transfer in Hidalgo. Now i am in Boulevard with Hermana Alcantara. She is from Mexico. Unfortunately, Hidalgo was closed. I don't want to "close" an area again. Its a lot. Because not just 1 has to pack and such, but both. And you gotta clean everything and there just isn't time to do that!!! Haha, but oh well.

2 years flew by fast. Family, I hope you all do something tomorrow. Something like go to the temple or something special... please.

This week was pretty great. We tried to work really hard. On Tuesday we had a member that accompanied us pretty much all day. It was such a productive day!! We met lots of new people and he helped us to know where some of the old investigators live or less actives and such. It was really great!!

Saturday we had a ward activity done by the missionaries. Not going to lie, it was pretty cool. We did like a GIANT game board on the church floor and every spot had a challenge. The focus was on the unity. So, every activity everyone had to work together. Games like 3 legged race, but the WHOLE team, or everyone had to sing a song, or carry a balloon together, or everyone in 1 piece of paper, or we even made a giant dartboard!!! It was pretty cool, and the members loved it. One sister was so happy because she never has time to spend with her children, but she got to be with them and enjoy their time together. It was awesome!

I'm not sure what else to write because I just feel like sleeping. But it was a great week. Today I got my first "death letter" which means I am coming home soon. That's good and bad. Theres not enough time!!!!! Time is something super important. Its passing so fast, so use every moment for good. Lift someone who is down. Help someone in need. Look for time for others and share the gospel!!!!

Now to end with a question.

If Jesus was in front of you and asked why you didn't share the gospel, what would be your excuse?

Love you all and hope that you can share what you love!!!!

The Funeral Singers

Well, this week, I wont lie, has been tough.
Monday, the ward pulled together to help clean the house of an elderly lady. Hermana Conchita. She is a wonderful little sweet lady, but she lives in awful conditions. She cant really get out of bed and so she uses a bucket as her toilet and then it sits there because shes alone and few visit her or have the nerve to take care of it. So, her house doesn't smell the best. But this week, they finally decided to help clean it up. Well, we got it mostly cleaned. The next night she didn't feel good, and finally went to see the doctor.Turns out her rib and pelvis were broken. And she was starting to get pneumonia. So, she was in the hospital. On my companions birthday, she passed away. Saturday we were asked to talk in her funeral and to sing. We Chose "Each Life that Touches ours for Good." It was really special. Then we shared our testimonies with her neighbors and "family" that was there. It was a super spiritual moment. She will be missed, but she is a lot happier now.

Also, another Hermana, Hermana America is bed ridden. she s a light of life! She loves to laugh and make jokes. She has been stuck in her bed for more than a year because she is waiting for a hip replacement. Well, yesterday she went in a coma, and is not doing well. They don't think she will be coming out.

But truthfully, it just helps me to be so grateful for the Plan of Salvation. We have the possibility to be with our loved ones for forever. It makes me so sad that there are SO MANY who don't even have a clue. They see death as the end. Theres nothing more. they will never see them again. But it isn't true! There is a chance. You can have your loved ones for forever. Yeah, there is a cost, and its not easy, but Christ payed for most of it. We just have to do our part. I KNOW families are made to be together for forever. They are meant to last. Don't give up. Hold tight to the rod and keep going. Do what you need to do to live righteously. Repent. That's for everyone including me. We can all do so much more. We can be so much better. Live everyday like it is your last because you don't know when it really will be. So, just be awesome and do what you should.

Yeah.

Also, now is time for ya'll to help. Any ideas for activities that you have done and were a wonderful success, we are all ears! Any ideas for how we can help the member have more excitement for the work and to love one another? If you have any ideas for any of these things, let me know! Thank you!!!

Also, I just want everyone to know that this is the truth. God lives and loves us. The Book of Mormon is true. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christs church on the earth. The gospel is true. And I know families are forever. If they weren't, theres no point! Show them you love them! And know that I love you!!

Tengan un bonito día y disfruten cada momento!!! Les AMO!!!!!!!

1/20/15

Well, we got to go to the temple today! Yay! Thankfully the lice went away so in the temple we could stay. haha. But really, it was wonderful!!! There is no place like the temple. Go as often as possible. OK?!

This week we had divisions with the hermana lideres. They decided to base the divisions on getting rid of pride. I learned pride is more than just like egotism and such. Its also not accepting counsel, getting offended easily, and a few other things. But the one that hit me the most was about the offend easily thing. Yeah. Well, I am now working super hard on that. Didnt realize that was pride, but now I can see that it is. We also had some, strange/exciting lessons. One was with a less active. Her reason for not being able to go to church? Because she is too fat. Unfortunately, yes she is quite... large, but Im sure she can still go. Or work to get it off so she can go!! We also went with one of the elderly missionaries because she wanted to contact her neighbor as a referral. Well... This lady was... I dont know how to say it, but we will go with very closed hearted. She got quite contentious and tried telling us all the things that are wrong and what did so and so do in the bible and lots of other things. It wasnt the best lesson, but after, the sister was like, "Im so sorry. I had no idea." We were worried for her, but she was worried for us. The best thing was, she didn't give up she said, "its not her time, but maybe my other neighbor!! "It was so special to see she didn't give up after her first rejection. We aslo met a man in the street. He wanted to tell us why our religion is wrong/bad. His biggest focus was is because we go to church in nice clothes. Well, by the time we ended talking to him, he cried (spiritual tears, not sad) and said that he would read the book of mormon. It was really cool. That happened a lot this week, having to REALLY stand up for what we believe. Like when the Jehovahs witness contacted us and we stood up for whats right and didnt let his accusations and rude comments get us down. I have never been so sure of the gospel in my life. Its really quite special.

Well, looks like time is up, I really should write this first, but I never learn. Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!!! Enjoy every moment,
LOVES!

Happy Birthday Blush

Well, to start this out, I will tell you my "Embarrassing mission story." So, last night, a member made me a cake. But, it was about 5 minutes from when we had to be in the house. So, we grabbed the cake and RAN! So, we are running down the street, and I have the cake in one hand and my bag in the other. And then, something felt really strange. I looked down and........................................... My skirt was on the ground! Thankfully I had a slip and thick brown tights on. But it was sooo funny. I dont know if anyone saw, but it WAs in front of a little shop... Haha. Ways to celebrate 21 right?! Haha :D

But really it was a great day. For lunch we ate with the Dominguez family. They are the best. They knew it was my birthday so they asked what my favorite American food is, and then they made it!! So, we ate chicken fettuccni Alfredo with salad. HEAVEN. Then, birthday cake. Here, they sing to you and then everyone chants until you take a bite. But, THEY SHOVE YOUR FACE IN IT!!! :D I think I will be blowing chocolate cake out of my nose for weeks. But, it was exciting. All in all, it was a wonderful birthday. Thanks for all the many birthday wishes!!!

As for the lice, I think they are gone, but my comp just said we need to check her head because it itches a lot... uh oh....

This week we were visiting a less active man. I think I talked about him last week. This week we were talking about the creation and agency. In the end of the less, he realized he had lots to repent of. Were not exactly sure what triggered it, but he cried and said he could see all the things he needed to repent of and asked us to pray so he could have the strength and help to do it. It was really powerful and super special.

Unfortunately that's about all because I'm almost out of time... But I love you all and hope life is treating you kindly, and if not, 1 word of advice. Obedience.

1/6/15

Sometimes, you just ask, "whats next?" Well... I have been thinking that a lot this week. Whats next? Well, new years was alright. Our lovely apartment sharers had a PARTY right under our house. FIRECRAKERS! KARAOKE!!!!! STUFFING A COSTUME FULL OF FIRCRACKERS AND LIGHTING IT OFF!!! FIRECRAKERS IN BARRELS SO IT SOUNDS LIKE GUNS! GUN SHOTS! WOOOOOOOOOOO! Let just say, sleeping DIDNT happen. Also, here your have a big dinner for new years, and so, the next day we had 2 lunches. 2. BIG. LUNCHES, And divisions! (Super fun because EVERYONE is STILL out having their parties.) Obviously no one is home, or they don't want to let you in, so you walk in the freezing rain having a great time getting to know the other person. But we did have SOME luck. We had a little Fhe with some members and the spirit was super strong. People cried and shared lots of testimony and it was wonderful.

What next? HEY! Temple Tuesday!!! YES! BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!! But hey, you will never guess what happened next. MY WORST NIGHTMARE. Some awful little thing called.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. HEAD LICE!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. So yeah, while our whole zone went to the temple, i was combing every little strand of hair killing the stupid little horrible creatures. Happy birthday..... Hahaha

But really, I don't know how, but I am still happy. I think its the whole sharing something you love all the time thing that helps. I don't know. But other than horrible lice, life is wonderful. Hopefully we found it before I need to chop my super long locks. (because that just might make me sad, and that's not fun.)

Yesterday we had a lesson with a less active. He is kinda...crazy. He says strange things and before he studied lots of stuff to try to prove that the church isn't true. But now he repents and wants to come back and such... Anyways, yesterday, we were teaching and he was talking about all the world problems. I felt the impression to talk. but had nothing to say. But opened it anyways. I still don't know what I said, but he cried and thanked me for my pure spirit and for my "ser" (how I am.). It wasn't me at all, but it sure helped me to understand the scripture that tell you to open your mouth and it will be filled. It will be filled with what the other person needs to hear. :D

That's about all I can think of. I hope you all have a wonderful week!! LOVES!!!

12/29/14

Well, This week work wise was awful. Everyone was out partyig all day
every day. Literally. And all night.

For Christmas eve, (Which is a bigger day here than christmas?) We had
a devotional with our president and his wife. It started with a talent
show from the missionaries in 4 zones. So, that was a blast. Our zone
for our talent rewrote "little drummer boy" to time in the mission.
Starting with the first day, and ending with well, the last. It was
hilarious. I think everyones favorite part was the dear John letter.

Haha. Then our president talked about Christs birth and how the
"stable" really was, and more in detail the parts of his birth. It was
really cool and special to think about how humble a birth he had. Hes
the best example. That night, if you werent ivited to eat with anyone,
you had to go home. Luckily, we had a inactive invite us. She made
heaven. I mean, chicken cordon blu, lasagna, bacon spaghetti, and
funneral potatoes. pretty sure I gain 10 lbs that day.... haha. During
the night they set off firecrackers. And blasted music. What time did
they end? 6:30. Wake up time. Boo.

For christmas, we spent the day in the stake center with all the
missionaries in our zone. It was a really fun day, but hard too
because you just kinda stopped being a missionary for the day and that
was strange. We fisrt worked on tying blankets because the elders
hadnt planned anything and I had brought 10 blankets for everyone to
give one to the needy. So, we tyed quilts. Then we played volleyball.
(fisrt time in months because of security). Then the weirdest part,
calling home. Thats the strangest feeling. But it was great to see the
blurred blobs of everyone and to hear thier voices. Sorry my spanglish
kept happening. haha. And then, to top off the no missionary day, we
watched "How to Train your Dragon 2." ts soooo funny! But, after it
finished we were all like, oh yeah, missionaries, service, work. Then
the Asistents said they had a surprise! We were going to take soap,
and shampoo and stuff like that and presents to the people in the
street! Probably my favorite part of the day. We took the blankets too
and the peoples faces were so happy. It was a moment I will never ever
forget.

We also go to go Christmas caroling with some of the ward members. We
went and visited a lot of the elderly ladies who are less active and
widows. It was special to see their happy faces glow becuase someone
came to visit and show them love. The members liked it so much they
are going again! yay!

As for the work, unfortunaetly there wasnt a ton with all the parties.
But what we did have was good. One in particular, yesterday, we ate
with a sister. Her husband is SUPER inactive. Well, he came home and
talked to us!!! Then we put on a mormon message and he loved it! So we
watched more and more. He even teared up in a few. So, the good thing
is is he could feel something and is starting to open up. Its a
Christmas miracle!

Love you all and will end here because 2 weeks without emailing builds
up a lot of emails...

LOVES! Hermana Stanger
